Philosophically, I'm simple: be comfortable with your photographer, and yourself, and then you'll get the most honest pictures.

Tom McGrath

Your headshot ought to be more than just a pretty picture of you. It needs to be engaging and reflect who you are, rather than just what you look like. So, I run a pretty free-wheeling shoot, and try to have fun with it. That way, I kind of know your vibe, and we can work as a team. Generally, I like to give people the gamut of emotions and looks, and they can choose what represents them best as an actor.

What we're aiming for is to a) make you look like you do when you go to auditions, so you don't surprise anyone and b) make you look alive, engaged, fun, and someone you'd want to meet. You know, if you didn't already know you.

Your headshot is often going to be on a table with a number of other pretty people's headshots, and if you stand out because you're active in whatever way you roll (serious, funny, charactery, sexy, ingenue-y, other made-up-words), then we've won. I'll go into this in more detail if you're interested, but generally, we're going to try to have fun and be comfortable, and get You down on the page.

What Should I Bring?

  • Bring more outfits than you think you'll need. We're going to do a bunch o' looks, and more opportunities for mixing and matching is better.
  • Many colors! We're going to try to find something to make you leap off the page, and sometimes it's surprising what that turns out to be. Black? Pastel? Bright blue? Let's experiment!
  • Bring a friend, if you'd like! It makes everybody more comfortable, and we can all have many laughs.

Let's hope it gets good ones soon!
